There was a shooting in Aurora, Colorado. The midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises, gallery #9 of the Aurora 16 was attacked by a lone assailant (Identified as James Eagan Holmes, 24, from San Diego and a former graduate student of the University of Colorado) wearing a gas mask and bulletproof vest. He was carrying an AR-15, 12 gauge shotgun, and a .40 caliber handgun. He was apprehended without a fight outside the theatre near his vehicle, a white Hyundai with Tennessee plates. Another handgun was found inside the vehicle.

71 people were injured, according to police report during the most recent press conference. Of those there were 14 fatalities, including a 6 year-old girl, and young sports reporter Jessica Gwahi. Her Twitter account @JessicaRedfield is still active, her last tweet mentioning that the movie was starting in 20 minutes; a chilling vision that shows how regular the night was until this horrific event occurred. She is so far the only named fatality.
