I want to add something to this, because this expands so far. We were the last generation to have hope and promises. We were the last sitcom generation for all intents and purposes, before they became obsolete.

We believed in Full House. We sobbed when Topanga left Cory. We cheered when Harvey showed up to Sabrina’s wedding. We were TGIF and Snick and first Kids Choice Award and we were proud.

We had 150 pokemon, eight digidestined, five sailor scouts, and Space Ghost Coast to Coast. We debated which rangers we were, secretly listened to Hanson, prayed one day Star Search would come back. We got older and voted on TRL and worshipped at the shrine of the boy bands.

We didn’t grow up. We didn’t lose Melissa Joan Hart because she was Clarissa. Kenan and Kel were our first bromance, even before we knew bromance could be a thing. Too old for Cheers, too young to appreciate Charmed fully. We’re Whedonites and Whovians now. But before all that? We were Afraid of the Dark, Went on adventures with Pete and Pete. Bought (or begged for) Sketchers and Tamagochis and Gameboy Originals. They were status but they were also hope and a promise.

A promise that was broken far too soon. Of course we look back. How could we not?

I saw a link to this on Facebook and I just needed to share. I read through some of the comments as well and I was shocked at the things people were saying.

Ewww, this is so gross.

I think a tattoo on any person can be seen as a symbol of willingness to take a risk. And I think that’s hot, personally. Fuck this guy saying it make women look like whores for having a tattoo.

Ah, and here’s the Smithsonian, breaking that “women with tattoos in ancient times were prostitutes” line all to shit.

And although it has long been assumed that such tattoos were the mark of prostitutes or were meant to protect the women against sexually transmitted diseases, I personally believe that the tattooing of ancient Egyptian women had a therapeutic role and functioned as a permanent form of amulet during the very difficult time of pregnancy and birth. This is supported by the pattern of distribution, largely around the abdomen, on top of the thighs and the breasts, and would also explain the specific types of designs, in particular the net-like distribution of dots applied over the abdomen. During pregnancy, this specific pattern would expand in a protective fashion in the same way bead nets were placed over wrapped mummies to protect them and “keep everything in.” The placing of small figures of the household deity Bes at the tops of their thighs would again suggest the use of tattoos as a means of safeguarding the actual birth, since Bes was the protector of women in labor, and his position at the tops of the thighs a suitable location. This would ultimately explain tattoos as a purely female custom

Sometimes however, you release a project where you just don’t care what happens to the code. For this Sam Hocevar created the WTFPL which is a brilliant license.
